"Bring Medjugorje to Curaçao"
A unique opportunity for spiritual renewal awaits those visiting the beautiful Medjugorje shrine of Seru di Orashon. Translated into English it means “Hill of Prayer”.
The Campman-family found themselves transformed after visiting the village of Medjugorje and returned home with a burning desire to bring all of the island of Curaçao to Medjugorje. This being impossible, they hit upon a solution:
Let’s bring Medjugorje to Curaçao!
First little Mt. Krizevac was built. A large concrete cross of 12 meters (39 feet) was placed upon the hill. Then followed construction of the Rosary Garden, The way of the Cross. An outdoor facility for mass which seats more than thousand people, a large parking lot. There are two chapels. One for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The Guest & Retreat House was finished in 2004. Retreats and conferences are being organized here.
Our former Bishop Ellis consecrated the shrine on August 15th, 1999 and said: “As our Lady of Medjugorje teaches, we must pray with the heart! I hope that this place, Seru di Orashon, will become like Medjugorje, a place of prayer, penance and conversion – lots of conversion! We need it in Curaçao, because many people are far away from God! Let us pray here continuously!”
